Subscribe to a skin care regimen
Healthy and glowing skin doesn’t happen overnight, contrary to what some skin care products may promise you. There is no serum, moisturizer, or toner that will magically give you perfect, glowing skin in just one use. The key to having amazing skin is putting in the effort to actually take care of it and make sure it gets the attention it needs. You can start by consulting a skin care professional so you can get sound medical advice on what your skin type is. Knowing your skin type will familiarise you with the kind of skin care products that will work best on your skin. Mindlessly buying the newest skin care trend will not do you any good and might cause breakouts and skin irritation.
Starting early is key. You want to have as much lead time as you can to make sure you’ll give your skin the time it needs to be attuned to your skin care regimen. Getting regular treatments in your trusted skin care clinic is also an option to make sure your skin gets the TLC it deserves.
Eat and drink healthy
There is a saying that “you are what you eat” and this is true for your skin too. There may be certain food items that can cause your skin to produce extra oil, therefore may lead to breakouts. Or you may be allergic to certain food and drinks so you want to steer clear of those too. If you have a sweet tooth and have to have your daily sugar dose, you may want to cut back a few portions because sugar, or anything processed, have the tendency to make your skin look pasty and a little dull. If you must eat chocolate, opt for the dark chocolate kind with at least 70% cocoa. Try to stay away from soda and high sugar juices and opt for natural fruits instead. It won’t only make your skin healthy, it will also help your entire body become healthy too.
Less is more
Keep in mind that when it comes to your skin, sometimes “less is more”. You don’t need to put a ton of skincare products on your face to make a regimen work. Not all skin care ingredients agree with each other, and not all are compatible with your face. Stick with the basics and don't’ forget sunscreen!
In addition, you want to make sure that your routine is sustainable for your lifestyle, both in time and resources. Buying products that break the bank and are too complicated to do on a daily basis is not sustainable. Opt for those that are budget and time friendly. You would still want healthy, glowing skin after the wedding, right?
Get plenty of sleep and hydrate
The two best skin care tips that any beauty magazine will give you are very simple: sleep and hydrate. These are ultra easy tips but somehow most often overlooked. Try sleeping for 6 to 8 hours/day and maintaining a consistent bedtime routine for at least a week and see how your skin health will change. Drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water a day will also make sure that your skin is moisturized and hydrated from the inside. It would be helpful to always carry a water tumbler with you and those downloadable apps that remind you to drink water if you’re having trouble keeping track.
Exercise!
When you sweat, your body flushes out harmful toxins and impurities that can be found in the dermal layer of the skin. It also improves the blood flow to your body making sure that all organs, including the skin, are healthy and functioning properly. In addition, exercise releases endorphins which makes you happy. A happy bride is always a glowing bride!
