Tips to Achieve Stunning Maternity Photos

May 14, 2021

Pregnancy is such a wonderful experience in the life of every woman. It is a testament to your remarkable and selfless strength, resilience and grace. It is a fleeting yet glorious moment and definitely an experience that you and your family would want to treasure and look back to in your lifetime.

To remember this amazing time in your life, why not book yourself a professional maternity photo session? Not only will you have another reason to shop for new clothes, you will also have gorgeous photographs documenting this extraordinary time in your life. If you’re one of those lovely pregnant women who have never been professionally photographed before and you’re scared of how the experience may go, my services can definitely help you! I have worked with countless moms-to-be and their families and made them feel relaxed and calm during our time working together. This enabled me to effortlessly take stunning photos from their most flattering angles.

Have you decided to book your maternity photo session and you want some of my tips for the frame-worthy photo of your bump? Read on to get started.

Do Your Research

If you haven’t installed Pinterest on your phone yet, now is the time to do so. Do your research on some of the nice maternity photoshoot poses that you’d like to do yourself. Look at some mood inspirations and pin them so you can decide which poses and frames you would want to see during your own photoshoot. Try looking up some inspiration for some themes as well. If you, and/or your husband are into a specific interest, you can try this as a common theme for your shoot. You can have clothes, footwear and some small props that you can use that go by your chosen theme as well.

Connect With Your Photographer

Discussing your options and your preferences is very important. It will make sure the experience is smooth, seamless and overall worry-free for you. After all, you have a lot going on with your pregnancy, and we want your photoshoot to be a place of zen and not a cause for stress. Show your researched themes, photos and themes to your photographer so they can also prepare, suggest and make sure you meet eye to eye in terms of expectations.

As a photographer and a mum myself, I know how you feel and I want to make sure I provide you with the best service possible. You can trust that I have your best interest at heart and I will make sure that you will have the best time during our shoot.

Take Time To Pamper Yourself

Sometimes, as mums-to-be, you forget to include “me-time” in your  busy schedule. You are so busy taking care of everyone else that you forget to take care of yourself and get some pampering. Before our shoot, don’t forget to give your nails some TLC! You can also have some prenatal massage (only if approved by your doctor, of course) to calm your nerves and relax you.

In addition, make sure to have your hair and makeup done so you highlight your best angles to the camera! This will help you feel more confident in your body and very much ready to flaunt your bump. My maternity photo services already include professional hair and makeup so you don’t need to worry about those anymore.

Two (Or More) Is Better Than One

It would be lovely to have your partner and/or your older child/children join you during our session! Aside from being your moral support and default cheerleader cheering you on from the sidelines, they can also be part of the photos as well! It would be so lovely to see you share this amazing moment in your lives and in your journey together as a family.

I have worked with countless couples and families during my years of experience and it’s always lovely to see the photos come together with all the beaming faces smiling from ear to ear, all excited to welcome the beautiful little addition to the family.

Practice Makes Perfect

As in all things, practice really does make things perfect. If you’re not used to being photographed, it would be good to get a mirror and practice smiling and posing just to make sure your movements are fluid and you’re not very tense. Just remember that you’re going to be the most amazing mother to your little bundle of joy! That ought to put a gorgeous smile on your lovely face.

What are you waiting for, mum-to-be? Give me a call and let’s chat about your session! You’re such an amazingly strong, beautiful and remarkable woman - all you need are gorgeous photographs to immortalize it.
